We use simple and effective techniques—such as light trolling or live bait—to catch local species: snapper, sea bass, grouper, corvina, horse mackerel, barracuda, or shad. With any luck, you’ll catch your own lunch! 🐟

The Fishing Experience Tour has a total cost of $3,600 pesos. To support the ecological reserve, a federal fee of $125 pesos per person is charged to aid in the preservation and care of this magnificent natural area. Reservations are secured with a $500 pesos deposit toward the tour cost, and the balance is paid at the beginning or end of the tour.

Equipment and boat included. Just bring whatever makes you feel comfortable in the water, and remember that we’re in a Biosphere Reserve—what goes in must come out.

Bring with you
- Lightweight long-sleeved clothing: fishing shirt, cap, and bandana. Light colors.
- Polarized sunglasses: Essential for reading the water and protecting your eyes.
- Reef-safe sunscreen. Oxybenzone-free—we’re in a Biosphere Reserve.
- Your own equipment (optional) If you have a favorite fishing rod, bring it. If not, it’s included.
- Closed-toe shoes: Old sneakers or boat shoes. No flip-flops on board.
- Get ready for an early start! We depart at 6:00 AM from the Malecón in Río Lagartos.

How do I make a reservation?

How long is the tour, and what time does it depart?
The tour lasts approximately 6 hours. We depart from the Río Lagartos boardwalk at 6:00 AM to take advantage of the best fishing hours at sunrise.
What species can be caught?
Local species such as snapper, sea bass, grouper, corvina, horse mackerel, barracuda, and shad. The target species depends on the tide, the season, and the conditions on the day of the tour. You may take home the edible fish; shad are carefully released.
Do I need prior experience?
No. It’s 100% suitable for children and adults with no experience: Jorge and Carlos will teach you the technique from scratch, without pressure and with plenty of patience. If you already know how to fish, you’ll enjoy it too.
How many people will be on the boat?
Maximum of 4 people per group. Small groups allow for a personalized experience and greater safety.
What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?
We’ll reschedule at no cost to the next available date. Safety and water conditions are always our top priority.
