The Professional Sport Fishing Tour is the most challenging trip we offer in Río Lagartos. A day on the open sea designed for anglers seeking the big trophy fish of the Gulf of Mexico who enjoy technical, long, and demanding fishing.
We’ll set out at sunrise from the Malecón in Río Lagartos, sailing toward the fishing grounds where grouper, snappers, barracudas, round scad, horse mackerel, shad, sawfish, dorado, and crownfish are found. On board, an experienced captain and a guide/helmsman will accompany you throughout the day, using techniques such as trolling, spinning, fly fishing, jigging, handline fishing, and bait fishing, depending on the species and the area.
Due to its duration and technical difficulty, we recommend this experience for anglers with prior deep-sea fishing experience.

Trolling while on the move. We drag lures or bait behind the boat to provoke strikes from fast-moving fish.
Spining
Cast with light or medium lures to target surface activity, shorelines, and current changes.
Fly Fishing
Fly fishing to present precise patterns when the tide, water clarity, and fish species allow.
Jigging
Vertical jigging with heavy lures. We take advantage of changes in depth to entice predators with rhythmic movements of the jig.
Handline fishing
Fishing with a straight line, sinker, and bait in areas where the captain seeks control and sensitivity to the bite.
Carnada
We use natural or prepared bait to adapt to the depth, current, and behavior of the fish species we’re targeting that day.

The Professional Sport Fishing Tour costs $9,500 MXNper boat, valid for groups of 1 to 2 anglers. Reserve your spot with a deposit of $500 MXN; the remaining balance is paid on-site on the day of the tour.

Mandatory federal fee for access to the Protected Natural Area. This fee is charged separately from the tour price and applies to all passengers. Your participation helps fund the conservation of the mangroves, flamingos, and marine species in the estuary.

How much does the Professional Sport Fishing Tour cost?
$9,500 MXN Per boat, valid for groups of 1 to 2 anglers. Additionally, there is a fee for the access bracelet to the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve: per$125 MXN person/day (official exemptions and discounts apply).
How do I make a reservation?
Your spot is reserved with a deposit via$500 MXN Mercado Pago, Stripe, or WhatsApp. The balance is paid at the beginning or end of the tour, directly on site.
How long is the tour, and what time does it depart?
Approximately 8 hours. We depart from the Malecón in Río Lagartos at 6:00 AM, taking advantage of the best hours for deep-sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.
What species can be caught?
Target species in the Gulf: grouper, snapper, barracuda, dogfish, horse mackerel, shad, sawfish, dorado, and crownfish. The captain selects the fishing area and uses techniques such as trolling, spinning, fly fishing, jigging, handline fishing, and bait fishing, depending on the season.
Do I need prior experience?
Yes. Due to the duration and technical difficulty of the trip, this tour is recommended for anglers with prior deep-sea fishing experience. If you’re looking to get started, we suggest our other fishing tours on the estuary.

Maximum of 2 anglers per boat. Small groups allow for a personalized experience and more effective fishing time per angler.
