Birdwatching Tour

What is the Birdwatching Tour?

The Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve is one of the most important bird sanctuaries in North America, home to more than 400 resident and migratory species. This Birdwatching Tour is an expedition designed by and for birdwatchers. Unlike other tours, this experience focuses 100% on searching for, identifying, and observing local birdlife.

We will cruise quietly through the mangroves, coastal areas, and inner lagoons, looking for everything from the iconic Pink Flamingo to more elusive species such as the Pygmy Kingfisher, Roseate Spoonbill, Jabiru (in season), and dozens of species of herons, pelicans, cormorants, and shorebirds.

You’ll be accompanied by a certified local guide specialized in ornithology, who knows bird behavior, calls, and the best spots to find them depending on the time of day and the season.

Note: This tour is mainly for “birders” and wildlife photographers. Silence, patience, and respect for the habitat are prioritized to achieve the best sightings.

Equipped boat: Boat with all safety equipment.
